Wyoming State Senate

 

Chris Rothfuss, D, SD 9

Business          Supports business growth and economic diversification.      

ENDOW        Was an early adopter of the initiative and supporter. Anticipates ENDOW moving forward into the next administration. Rothfuss has concerns if the program is under capitalized it will not succeed.

WBC              A strong supporter of the Wyoming Business Council and would not like to see additional cuts to this program. He would like to see more funding for the WBC but does not see this as realistic.

Summary    Rothfuss would like to work towards diversification of the State’s revenue stream and would like to modify the State’s Manufacturing Sales Tax Exemption.

 

Wyoming State House of Representatives

Cathy Connolly, D, HD 13

Business          Supports business growth and economic diversification.      

ENDOW        Supportive of the goals of ENDOW however Connolly has some concerns that economic diversification will be impeded under our current tax structure.

WBC              Supports the Wyoming Business Council

Summary       Connolly would like to see a better investment strategy at the state and feels that the citizens of Wyoming deserve transparency.

 

Dan Furphy, R, HD 14

Business          Supports business growth and economic diversification.      

ENDOW        Supports the ENDOW initiative but recognizes that the 20-year plan is not designed to fix our immediate needs.

WBC              Supports the Wyoming Business Council and feels that the WBC projects are effective for the local communities. Furphy stated that money should not be taken away from the WBC to fund ENDOW.

Summary       Furphy feels that the State should continue to help fund the University of Wyoming and expand the number of graduates. There also needs to be efforts in expanding the number of people in the trades.

 

Lorraine Saulino-Klein, D, HD 14

Business          Supports business growth and economic diversification.      

ENDOW        Supports the ENDOW initiative, stating the message is good, the premise is good but does not address the wage gap

WBC              Supports the Wyoming Business Council and feels that anything we can do to promote jobs and living wages is good.

Summary       Saulino-Klein would like to focus energies on 3 areas, public lands, education and healthcare, sating that both healthcare and education are economic development tools.

 

Jackie Grimes, D, HD 46

Business          Supports business growth and economic diversification.      

ENDOW        Supports the ENDOW initiative and feels there should be action with goals as well as benchmarks to measure successes.

WBC              Supports the Wyoming Business Council and feels that anything that can be done to promote jobs and living wages is good.

Summary       Grimes feels that the local communities should have the ability to manage some of their own taxes. She also feels that the public does not receive enough information from state government.

 

Bill Haley, R, HD 46

Business          Supports business growth and economic diversification.      

ENDOW        Supports the ENDOW initiative stating that it gives us a good place to start. Also noting that reliable air service is a big piece to growing the economy.

WBC              Supports the Wyoming Business Council and would like to see more economic diversification.

Summary       Haley would like to see better strategic investments at the state level and a better yield on those investments. Also stating that programs need to be looked at so the State’s income is not outspent.

 

Roxie Hensley, R, HD 45

Business          Supports business growth and economic diversification.      

ENDOW        Supports the ENDOW initiative but feels that oversight is needed on how the funding is managed, thus enduring the longevity of the projects.

WBC              Supports the Wyoming Business Council.

Summary       With regards to the state’s budget shortfalls, Hensley feels that the state needs to be more transparent and look at how we spend money. And during the boom cycles be more responsible on how money is spent.

 

Charles Pelkey, D, HD 45

Business          Supports business growth and economic diversification.      

ENDOW        Supports the ENDOW initiative but thinks it needs to go further and more investment behind it.

WBC              Supports the Wyoming Business Council.

Summary       With regards to the state’s budget shortfalls, Pelkey stated that transparency is first, the structure of multiple accounts does not allow for a clear look. How much money the state has needs to be identified.

Albany County Commission 

 

Tim Chestnut, D

Business                                  Supports business growth and economic diversification.

Economic Development        Chestnut supports economic development efforts and feels there should be a strong focus in this area.

Economic Diversification     Would like to see more economic diversification.

Pilot Hill                                 Supportive of the Pilot Hill Project and feels that it will bring new economic opportunities to Albany County. As well as protect the Casper Aquifer.

 

Pete Gosar, D

Business                                  Supports business growth and economic diversification.

Economic Development        Gosar supports economic development, and while recruiting is important, retention and expansion efforts of the local businesses are very important.

Economic Diversification     Would like to see more economic diversification.

Pilot Hill                                 Supportive of the Pilot Hill Project and it makes great sense for the community providing more open space and recreation and the role it plays in economic development.

 

Heber Richardson, R

Business                                  Supports business growth and economic diversification.

Economic Development        Richardson supports economic development and does not believe there needs to be multiple entities engaging in it, with the county playing a supportive role.

Economic Diversification     Would like to see more economic diversification.

Pilot Hill                                 Supportive of the Pilot Hill Project and feels this project should give the community a unifying vision as it will be big for the community as a whole.

 

Jerry Kennedy, R

Business                                  Supports business growth and economic diversification.

Economic Development        Kennedy supports economic development and would like to see more economic growth in Albany County.

Economic Diversification     Would like to see more economic diversification.

Pilot Hill                                 Supportive of the Pilot Hill Project and is in favor of protecting the Casper Aquafer.

Laramie City Council

 

Victor Bershinsky, Ward 1

Business                                  Supports business growth and economic diversification.

Economic Development        Supportive of economic development efforts and feels the City should have an active role in economic development by supporting those organizations engaged in this type of work.

                                                Bershinsky supports the idea of public/private partnerships as a means to accomplishing projects. He also feels there needs to be systematic plan in place to address the needs of West Laramie.

                               

Brian Harrington, Ward 1

Business                                  Supports business growth and economic diversification.

Economic Development        Supportive of economic development, noting that it is crucial for the city to have a supportive role in the process.

                                                Harrington would like to seek simple ways to create a better environment for the business community. He would also like to see the local economy become more diverse and grow.

 

Jessica Stalder, Ward 1

Business                                  Supports business growth and economic diversification.

Economic Development        Stalder sees the city’s role in economic development as a supportive role, letting it’s partner organizations take the lead.

                                                Stalder would like to see the city’s revenue stream diversified, noting that public/private partnerships could be a way to complete some projects. She would also like to see the local tech sector grow.

 

Andi Summerville, Ward 1

Business                                  Supports business growth and economic diversification.

Economic Development        Supportive of economic development and sees the city’s role as more of a facilitator but definitely part of the discussion and solution.

                                                Summerville noted that she sees Laramie as an attractive place to continue the growth of the manufacturing sector and like to diversity of the industry that already exists.
