Don’t miss the 39th Annual 2019 Centennial Valley Summer Art Show and Sale, a group fine art exhibition and free public art show featuring original photography, paintings, pottery, stained glass, sculptures, and more from about 30 local and regional artists from rural South East Wyoming including the Centennial Valley and surrounding communities. The exhibition is hosted by the Centennial Valley Historical Association at the Nici Self Historical Museum in Centennial, Wyoming, located about 30 miles west of Laramie and 45 miles east of Saratoga at 2734 Wyoming Highway 130. A portion of the proceeds from every sale is donated to the Nici Self Historical Museum as part of their main annual fundraiser. The exhibition will be on display and open to the public Saturday, July 6th, 2019 from 9am to 6pm and Sunday, July 7th from 9am to 4pm.
Plus, the 5th Annual Elevation Celebration is also going on the same day during the art show on Saturday July 6th during the afternoon and evening making it a great weekend to come out to Centennial to enjoy local art, music, family, and friends on the mountainside. The Elevation Celebration is a local music festival and craft show hosted by the Historic Mountain View Hotel and Cafe just across the street that benefits the local Centennial Valley Volunteer Department and Albany County Search and Rescue.
Included in the exhibition is Centennial, Wyoming based artist Allison Pluda of Seneca Creek Studios’ stunning and vivid metal print fine art photography featuring Wyoming starscapes and landscapes including the Milky Way from outside of Medicine Bow National Forest as well as a new stunning panoramic landscape print of the Snowy Range Mountains. Other participating artists this year include Celeste Havener’s original oil paintings of the captivating beauty of the Centennial Valley as well as Tana Libolt and West Magoon of Muddy Mountain Pottery’s fun and functional stoneware, raku sculpture, and ceramic jewelry plus much more. About the Nici Self Historical Museum
The Nici Self Historical Museum is operated by the Centennial Valley Historical Association and a corps of dedicated volunteers and was organized in the early 1970s as part of a community effort to be recognized as a Bicentennial community. Berniece “Nici” Self was one of the founding members, and the museum is named in her honor. The museum features multiple exhibits that celebrate the local mining, ranching, and railroading history of the area. Several buildings from around the area have been moved to the grounds and are open to visitors from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Thursday through Monday, noon to 4 PM and in September on Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 4 PM. Admission is always free, but donations are gratefully accepted. If you’d like to arrange a visit outside of normal hours, please call 307-745-3108 during the summer season, or 307-742-7763 during the winter.
